Dalit man appointed priest

RUKUM, JUN 16 - As an example of social harmony in the community, a Dalit man has been Working as a priest at a local temple in Garayala VDC-2 in the district for the past two years.
Locals said a meeting of villagers agreed to pick Ambar Kami, 19, for The post, recognizing his ability to recite Hindu scriptures decently. “He recites Hindu scriptures and conducts rituals. So, we picked him for the post,” Lok Bahadur Budathoki, a local resident, said.
Kami lives in the temple and conducts daily prayers there. Around two dozen villagers visit the temple on a daily basis.
