4th July 2013- A 45-year-old Dalit woman was dragged on the village street and
beaten up mercilessly by a group of villagers who branded her as witch
on Tuesday night.
The incident took place on Tuesday night in
Raidiha village under Morada police limits when the woman was returning
home from her brother’s house. The villagers blamed her for the
prolonged illness of a child in the village.
On Wednesday, police
arrested Paban Bantakara, Bikartan Dehuri, Parbasia Dehuri, Raibo
Dehuri,
Tanguru Dehuri and Gunapani Patra and they were remanded to
judicial custody.She was brutally attacked. With fractures in her waist, she has been admitted to Kishantandi CHC.Morada OIC Rashmi Ranjan Das said the attack was fallout of an old rivalry. A case has been registered.
