PALPA, SEP 01, 2014 - A case of caste discrimination occurred at Nepal Electricity Authority Office, Palpa, has been settled after Chief and Supervisor of NEA, Palpa, publically apologised for what happened. The dispute surfaced at the NEA was settled after NEA Chief Nabal Kishor Gohit and Supervisor Krishna Rayamajhi offered public apology this morning.
Chairman of a Common Campaign for Dalit Rights, Palpa, Tirtha Prasad Gautam, said that the case was settled after victim Devi Nepali withdrew the complaint filed at the District Police Office (DPO), Palpa, after both the NEA officials accepted their crime and apologised for the incident.
Devi Nepali of Rukse VDC-5 and Raj Kumari Damini of Tansen had filed a complaint at the DPO, Palpa, citing they were meted out caste-discrimination as they were offered with Dar outside of the building during the Dar Khane programme (special feast of delicacies held a day before the Teej festival) organized on the occasion of the Teej festival by the Authority's Palpa branch.Gautam said that an all-side meeting held at the NEA Office decided that the guilty should offer public apology and commitment to ending racial discrimination in the district and not giving any mental torture to the victims.
